the first game of the Northern group. In a repeat of last season’s
Czech finals, current national champions Vysočina
Gladiators will host Prague Lions on Easter Sunday at 16:00 CET.
Teams will double down on this duel which counts as their national
league game too.

The Gladiators are new to international
scene so they’ll have much to prove in this one. Meanwhile, the
Lions have played on the big stage once before in season 2016 of the
now defunct IFAF Europe Champions League. They didn’t fare so well
though, suffering losses to Triangle Razorbacks and Wroclaw Panthers,
which went on to win the whole thing.

Both the Gladiators and the Lions have
recorded wins in the first week of the national league. Czech
national championship features 7 domestic teams and 2 from Slovakia
so they’ll have a lot on their plates this season. In the CEFL Cup
both of them have yet to meet Tychy Falcons, Polish vice champions.
The winner of the group will advance to the final game against the
best from the Southern group of the CEFL Cup.

The Gladiators will have help from
overseas epitomized in their QB, Ryan Pahos. On the other end of the
field, leader of the Praguers’ offense is Shazzon Mumphrey. Judging
from their season openers, both of them already have great rapport
with their receiving corps, posting large number of points. With both
attacking units firing on all cylinders, the key to winning this one
might lie with the defenses.

Championship’s curtain to lift again. First game of the season will
be played this Saturday, 2 April at 18:00 CET in Thonon les Bains,
France. Home team, the Black Panthers will host LG OLED Las Rozas
Black Demons who are coming from the outskirts of Madrid.

Current French champions from 2019,
Thonon Black Panthers are returning to international competitions
after a two-year interruption. They’ve played only 3 games in their
national league in 2020, while missing 2021 completely due to corona.
This season they’re standing at 4-1 after playing out the first
half of their national league. Their only loss has come from the
Flash de La Courneuve, who are debuting in the CEFL Championship this
season.

LG OLED Las Rozas Black Demons are
themselves appearing for the first time on a European scene. They are
the runners-up of the Spanish national championship from 2021. Their
season has started in January this year so they’ve had more time to
get to speed. With one game to go in the regular season they’ve
suffered 3 losses in their domestic league. Even so, they’ve
already earned a spot in the national semifinals.

The Black Panthers’ offensive side of
the ball will be energized by import players, signal caller Brett
Hunchak and running back Akiva Wedge. Their opponents, the Black
Demons are playing with a domestic quarterback and their additions
from overseas are O-lineman Félix Gacusana Jr and defensive back
Marcus Bratton.

Coach Mitchell successfully managed to transition from a player to coach position, and he truly is one of the best at what he does.

The Transition
I agree that the transition from playing to coaching can be tough for some. I knew at 16 years old that I wanted to coach. There is a saying that “the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.” My dad, Mike Mitchell, has been coaching football and baseball in San Diego for over 40 years now, and has become one of the winningest coaches all-time there. He is being honored next month in the “San Diego High School Sports Association- Legends of Coaching''. He is where my foundation and passion for coaching was ingrained.

What made me decide to want to become a coach was formed from a mentor who I met at 16 years old, Coach Tom Martinez. Coach Martinez is well known for being Tom Brady’s Quarterback Coach from a young age, and I was fortunate to get to spend time with both. Coach Martinez was an incredible teacher, and always explained the purpose and reason “why” to everything he taught. I developed an incredible relationship with him and traveled all over the United States with him learning and getting opportunities to learn how to teach. Coach Martinez coached 40 plus years at the College of San Mateo never having a losing season.

I guess my “rebranding” came once I knew I wanted to coach. I believe my old teammates would say I was like a “coach on the field”. I was never the most talented but knew my own personal success could only come through my teammates’ success. The team aspect is what I love the most about sports.

(c)www.rolf-luettecke.de

Coming to Europe
My journey began as the Head Coach of the Osnabrück Tigers. I was coaching at my Alma Mater, Willamette University, at the time and was lucky to be coaching a lot of the guys that I called teammates two years prior. One of those teammates was also, and still is, one of my best friends, Quarterback- Josh Dean. Josh was an incredible player here in Europe starting with the Tigers, then leading Calanda, and finishing up with Ancona. Osnabruck signed me, Josh, and my other best friend/brother, high school teammate & linebacker, Patrick Kelly. We were lucky to join an organization that supported us to be ourselves and bring our love for the game. We ended the 2014 season undefeated in one of the most memorable seasons in organization history. Our offense averaged 49 pts per game and our defense averaged giving up less than 6pts a game. More importantly, we fell in love with the members of the team, and that experience I believe really molded the paths of our lives.

This experience really had me fall in love with the culture of football in Europe. There is such a purity to the game, and the players here have such a genuine love for competing together. This is what made me want to return in 2017 with the opportunity to be the Offensive Coordinator for Carlstad Crusaders. This organization, again, felt like a family to me, and it was no surprise as to why they are one of the most successful football organizations in Europe. We finished the season undefeated and won the Swedish Super Series averaging 55 pts per game over the season.

I feel so fortunate to be back here again with the Vienna Vikings and getting to compete on the biggest stage of the game in the ELF. Coach Calaycay is without a doubt a Hall of Fame Coach, and the entire Vikings organization reflects that. The leadership, coaches, community, and players are some of the best in the world, and I’ve fallen in love with every minute of being here. I can’t wait for the season.

The Challenges
This is going to sound like a cliché coach answer, but I think there are challenges in every aspect of life no matter what your profession is or your location. I think if you asked my closest friends and family, they would describe me as “naïvely positive”. In Europe the common excuse is that the game is still “new” here compared to the United States. I believe this is an incredible opportunity as a coach because it challenges you to become a clear and concise teacher, always giving you the opportunity to explain “why” and “how”. A huge part of that is through connection.

I was fortunate to work and learn under Coach Dale Lindsey, the Head Football Coach at the University of San Diego, and his staff in 2015, and he wrote me a letter of recommendation with the greatest compliment I’ve ever received as a coach (I’ve kept the letter to this day). Coach Lindsey said, “Danny does not look at coaching as a job, but a profession”. I didn’t know what that meant at the time, but now it is crystal clear, and is exactly why I am back coaching in Europe. Being a coach is a huge part of who I am, and this is how I overcome any challenges. I love coaching football because of the people I get to interact with daily through this game. This will never be a “job” to me, and I feel like the luckiest person in the world to get to do this 24/7. I genuinely love every minute of being here.

The Moments
This is a tough question because there have been so many. The first thing that stands out are the relationships I’ve gotten to make through coaching all over the world and at so many different levels. Championship teams are always special, but what specifically sticks out are the individuals I’ve had a chance to fall in love with. There are athletes I’ve coached in college that are incredible husbands and professionals, there are High School athletes that I’ve coached that I get to watch on TV now, and there are coaches I’ve coached with that I can call at any moment in life and know they’d drop everything and be there for me in an instant. How can you not be romantic about football or sports if this is what it brings to a person’s life!

Domestic Talent
The local coaches I’ve had the opportunity to work with have been phenomenal with each organization I’ve been with. Great coaches are always consistently learning and sharpening their craft, and I see that with every coach I’ve worked with here. I learn so much from them as well. The Tigers, Crusaders, and Vikings have incredible leadership, and I’ve been so lucky to be able to add to each place.

I know I am currently with coaches that I will be life-long friends and colleagues with. As I said before, Coach Calaycay is without a doubt one of the best I’ve ever been around, and his entire staff reflects that. I get to work alongside one of the best assistant coaches in all of Europe, and really the world, in Max Kossler, and one of the sharpest O-line coaches as well in Thomas Tippold, and that’s just the offensive side of the ball. I learn something new everyday from our strength coach, Chistoph Putz, and our entire Defensive staff. My advice would be to import coaches coming for the first time to Europe. I’d advise you to listen and evaluate the situation you are in. There are good people and coaches within each organization, and it is our role as “outside” coaches to be additions to that built in culture.

Legacy
I believe every great coach (and person) is a culmination of all the influential people within their life. The “legacy” I’d like to leave would hopefully be one that honors all those that have helped me throughout my journey in this game. The only “project” I am working on is to consistently be the best version of myself and asset to the members of the Vienna Vikings one day at a time.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-69280487371669420712022-03-23T23:43:00.002+01:002022-03-24T07:09:04.967+01:00Hall Of Fame: Branko Mutić, OL
Touchdown Europe Hall of Fame, or, TDEU Approved, features some of the best coaches and players (domestic and import) across Europe. All participants have topped their national leagues last season ensuring the strength of this year’s CEFL Cup tournament.

The competition will be played in 2 conferences with the following participants:

Northern Conference
- Tychy Falcons, Polish vice-champions
- Vysočina Gladiators, Czech champions
- Prague Lions, Czech vice-champions

Southern Conference
- Fehervar Enthroners, Hungarian vice-champions
- Banat Bulls, Serbian vice-champions
- Kragujevac Wild Boars, Serbian semifinalists and long-time participants of CEFL Championship

During the regular season each team will play 2 games and only against the rivals from their own conference, one home and one away.

The matchups will take place on the following dates:

Northern Conference matchups
23 April Prague Lions - Tychy Falcons
TBD/TBA Vysočina Gladiators - Prague Lions
21 May Tychy Falcons - Vysočina Gladiators

Southern Conference matchups
23 April Kragujevac Wild Boars - Fehervar Enthroners
30 April Banat Bulls - Kragujevac Wild Boars
14 May Fehervar Enthroners - Banat Bulls

CEFL Cup final game 28 May
Host will be decided during the season

Due to uncertainty with the pandemic and teams’ national league obligations, dates of individual games may be subject to rescheduling. The winners from last season’s Championship are coming back as well. Turns out - most were taken by one photographer - Sarah Philipp.

Sarah started taking photos when she was only 8-9 years old, and today, as a 35 year old - she is one of the best. What's even more breathtaking is that she learned everything on her own.

Falling In Love With Football
I was taken to a football field by my roommate 11 years ago. She was a Football fan and until then I had only photographed weddings, families, models etc. So everything was really new for me but football caught me from the very first moment. Since then, football became my addiction.

Capturing The Perfect Shot
Most of the time you are in the car all day, then in the stadium for hours. Either sweating or it's raining hard. And all just to get a perfect photo. All time waiting for a good shot (and being prepared for it) is sometimes „the hardest part of it“.

Often you have to overcome yourself and do things that you wouldn't normally do. For example being part of a huddle or something like that (If you’re allowed to), or use a angle that normally nobody would use. Just being creative.

Favorite Shot
There were many emotional moments. Seeing your own team lose in the bowl, taking photos and drying tears at the same time is a hard part for me. But, catching all the positive vibes after winning championship or anything like that is part of my „job“ too. Sometimes my feelings go up and down during games and I’m feeling like it’s „my gameday“ too. That’s my passion for football and photography. My fire is always on.

But if I should pick one moment, I would say that a few weeks ago I took 2-3 pictures that will last forever. I took some pictures of Kadel King and Sebastian Silva Gomez from Frankfurt Galaxy while there was a thunderstorm in the stadium. A few minutes after the pictures, the referees stopped the game because it was too dangerous. The atmosphere while thunderstorm was absolutely MAGIC.

Favorite Teams
I have a few favorite teams. Most of my time I spend with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, but I love some other teams too.

Why? Because it’s like coming home every time I when I enter the stadium and see all my boys being on fire and ready for the game. My teams are the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Allgäu Comets, Berlin Rebels, Frankfurt Galaxy and Swarco Raiders from Austria.

Words Of Wisdom For Beginners
As I said before: overcome yourself and do things that you wouldn't normally do. Be invisible but always there. Always be nice and never annoy anyone. Don't be pushy or disturbing. And very important: put all your love and passion in EVERY photo.

Dreams And Goals
Getting better every day and earn respect from teams, players and the leagues they play in. Taking pictures with a unique selling proposition. And one day: NFL :)

Mia Bajin
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-74943941419274292982021-07-28T10:15:00.004+02:002021-07-28T10:29:02.344+02:00SAAF: Serbian Eagles Flying High!

After just 15 years of playing American Football in Serbia, Serbian national team came to be among the top 8 teams in Europe.

To fly higher, Serbian Eagles now need your support.

The new European championship campaign started in 2019. Its participants are Swarco Raiders Tirol, who have beaten Milano Seamen 41 – 14 two weeks ago, and Dacia Vienna Vikings, after dealing an exorbitant blow 82 – 7 to Kragujevac Wild Boars. Game is played on Saturday, 29 May at the American Footballzentrum in Innsbruck with the kickoff at 16:00 CET.

Austrian semifinal is hardly a surprise to any football fan because these teams are long-standing rivals in their national league and internationally. They’ve divided the last 10 national championships equally, with each contender winning 5 titles. Swarco Raiders are also the current three-time winners of the CEFL Bowl, while Dacia Vikings are taking part for the first time. Last time these two opponents have met on an international stage was in the ECTC final 2019, when the Raiders have won 35 – 10.

This season, in addition to winning their quarterfinal matchups, they’re also leading their national standings. The Vikings have a perfect score of 5 wins in the AFL, while the Raiders presently occupy the second place with a 3-1 score, their only loss taking place in Vienna. This semifinal game will therefore be a chance for them to “return the favor” to the Vikings on the international stage.

The leader of Swarco Raiders team is their long-time quarterback Sean Shelton. His favorite targets are Marco Schneider who’s turning 20 today (happy birthday Marco!) with whom he’s connected 7 times for touchdowns in both CEFL Championship and AFL, and Simon Pilger, who’s attached 3 TDs in his stats. Shelton also leads his team in rushing touchdowns with 4 scores in both tournaments.

Nevertheless, this aspect of the game is dominated by Dacia Vikings’ signal caller, Eystin Salum who’s carried the ball 9 times across the goal line. Adding to that another 7 rushing scores in both competitions by Florian Wegan and it could be said that the Viennese have a more grounded offense. However, Salum has also linked up for 4 touchdowns with Philipp Dubravec and twice with Mitchell Page.

The winner of this semifinal duel will go through to the CEFL Bowl XV which is scheduled for 26 June. They will play against the more superior team from the other semifinal game which we get to know in two weeks, on 13 June. Lions have teamed up with TeamRaize.com to help their sports organization with funding, since, during the pandemic - most teams in Europe are struggling with sponsorships.

Zach Harrod, Lions HC said that it was an easy decision on why to pick Team Raize as their funding platform:

- In 2016 Dylan Reda and I competed against each other, we don't need to share the details of the game, since then we had been in touch. Dylan was supposed to play and coach for us before this COVID chaos hit us. We have been talking about the Prague Lions being their pilot team here in Europe to get Raize going for some time.

We started the campaign to give us a boost hopefully coming out of this chaos around COVID. We have been working hard to line up new sponsors, but it's hard while we are still waiting for a start date for our season. Another reason we are doing it, is because it is good to get our players involved.

During these tough times, most teams are still forbidden to have fans present at their games, while companies are not sponsoring teams as much as they used to prior to Covid-19. Teams have to get creative in order to keep the ball rolling - from practice to games.
- The funds will give us a boost coming out of this tough period, as we don't know if we will be able to have fans at games, that is lost income to pay for the season. So the funds will help the club be able to function.

The campaign has started a little slow, because it's new for our guys, but it is starting to slowly pick up. Raize has been great providing resources for it, getting on live zoom calls to explain it. They have been great! - says Zach.

So far, Lions campaign have been moving up steadily, and we can freely say that the team is definitely raizing the bar!

Please help donate or share the campaign: https://www.teamraize.com/donations/praguelions/

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-89660786263789291652021-04-27T07:07:00.006+02:002021-04-27T07:13:51.618+02:00RaiZe - A Fundraising Platform For Teams And Athletes Comes To Europe!

In the era of crowdfunding - not many can stand out. Especially start-up fundraising platforms. However, this one, we can proudly say - deserves our attention.

Covid-19 has impacted sports - sponsors pulling out, games getting cancelled or played without the fans at the stadiums. Teams revenue is cut to bare minimum.

And then came RaiZe.

3 former football players, today successful in their own ventures, came together to start a fundraising platform for sports organizations, staff and players. I fell in love with the game and could really feel the love for the game that my teammates and fans all over Europe all shared, so I knew I had to do something to help. I saw too many teams struggling to raise money for the necessities of competing at a high level and knew we had to help.

CFO of Team RaiZe is Trent Johnson - a former D1 linebacker at the University of Southern Mississippi where he played alongside Reda. Due to injuries, Johnson had moved to coaching.
- I have traveled out to the EU several times and seen first-hand how European sports teams could use extra funding to maximize their sport. Over the years, Dylan and I would continually brainstorm ideas on how to benefit European athletics. This is Team RAIZE was born.

We created a customizable platform where organizations can receive donations to their program. Our program is 100% virtual and we do not require any out-of-pocket expenses. Team RAIZE has the ability to translate multiple languages as well as accept multiple currencies, therefore setting out to become the most globally used fundraising platform.

But, why should an organization start a fundraising campaign via RaiZe, vs other platforms? Smith says that RaiZe is much more proactive in their approach to helping teams, coaches and/or athletes to raise money.

- We don’t just make you a link and say “good luck”!

As a community fundraiser we are involved start to finish! Our fundraising campaigns support any financial needs and can be run at any time! Whether it be your team prepping for a season, your coaches raising money for a clinic / camp and/or funding needs for bringing in an import player for the season.

Our customized platform will provide you with a personalized page and link supplemented with automated emails and social media blasts to gain a wider audience to raise more funds. Focus on your team and leave the fundraising stresses to us!

Reda agrees, and continues: What separates RaiZe from other donation platforms is we have a rep working with the club or individual player 100% of the time. We add personal photos and videos to the page specifically for the team and players; also doing personalized social media blasts to help garner attention!

At the moment - RaiZe just launched a campaign with the Prague Lions! But, before we get to the story, we asked Can to share his football experience.

- I began to my football career in 2009 with Yasar Admirals. Yasar Admirals was my college’s team. I was a defense player when i was starting to play football. But then I started to play as a wide receiver. After couple of semi-professional team experience, I transferred to the Koc Rams Professional Football Team which is located in Istanbul. I am currently playing in Koc Rams as a safety. We won the National Championship title twice and earn second place at CEFL tournament during my career with the Koc Rams. I did experience a lot of things that excites me to a football. But the most highlighted moment was after my interception touchdown celebration in Koc Rams - Moscow Patriots game. When I did pick six whole team has gone crazy and celebrate my touchdown with me. Even though last season wasn’t played, there will be a substantial advancement in this one.

In a year of the quantum leap, the Championship will unite the whole Europe, including teams from Germany! We’ve worked on this in good faith with all actors and football fans will be delighted and thrilled to learn that it has finally materialized.

For a long while top teams haven’t been playing together under common player licensing rules in a pan-European event. CEFL Championship 2021 will correct that, incorporating some of the best continental teams from the dominant football national leagues in one single competition.

New season will bring together eleven high-ranked teams, 8 national champions and 3 vice-champions. Ranking will respect teams’ accomplishments from 2019, and 2020 for those whose national seasons have been played last year:

Swarco Raiders Tirol, Austrian 2019 champions, CEFL 2019 champions, ECTC 2019 champions

Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, German 2019 vice-champions

Dacia Vienna Vikings, Austrian 2019 vice-champions, ECTC 2019 finalists, Austrian 2020 champions

Calanda Broncos, Swiss 2019 champions, CEFL 2019 finalists

Thonon Black Panthers, French 2019 champions

Milan Seamen, Italian 2019 champions

Badalona Dracs, Spanish 2019 champions

Copenhagen Towers, Danish 2019 vice-champions

Carlstad Crusaders, Swedish 2020 champions

Kragujevac Wild Boars, Serbian 2019 champions

Moscow Spartans, Russian 2020 champions

The competition system which was planned for season 2020 will continue to be used this year. A modified cup scheme will take into account teams’ ranking and geographic location while attempting to be economically viable.

Highest-ranked 4 teams will be seeded, meaning they will skip the first round and have home field advantage afterwards. Since there are 11 teams in competition, Milan Seamen will be the last team to have a bye in the first round. Other 6 teams in 3 different regions of the continent will play single elimination games.

Playing schedule was adjusted taking into account team’s national league obligations. This has led to the game dates being somewhat uneven after the first round:
First Round

24 April Thonon Black Panthers – Badalona Dracs
24 April Copenhagen Towers – Calrstad Crusaders
24 April Kragujevac Wild Boars – Moscow Spartans
bye Milan Seamen

Second Round

15 May Swarco Raiders Tirol – Milan Seamen
15 May Dacia Vienna Vikings – Kragujevac Wild Boars/Moscow Spartans
22 May Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns – Copenhagen Towers/Carlstad Crusaders
29 May Calanda Broncos – Thonon Black Panthers/Badalona Dracs

Semifinals

29 May Winners of second round games hosted by the Raiders and the Vikings
12 June Winners of second round games hosted by the Unicorns and the Broncos

Higher-ranked teams in either matchup of the semifinals will be hosts.

The final game of CEFL Championship 2021 will be played on 26 June and hosting will be awarded to one of the finalists.

Of course, precautions will be taken to provide for Covid-safety this year and protect players’ health. Let’s hope the pandemic will subside by spring so we can all think no more of lockdowns or any force-majeure situations where games get canceled.

One thing’s for sure, new season will definitely present us with more than a few excitements.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-45280230788491611362020-10-10T16:02:00.001+02:002020-10-10T16:02:09.360+02:0030+: Ronald Sears

There can’t be a series of articles dedicated to those who’ve paved the way in
Europe, and are still playing, and not contain Ronald Sears. Sears has been
showcasing his talents overseas for over a decade now.

The 35 year old, Brooklyn
born athlete has seen his fair share of international American football. Sears started
playing the game he loves at the age of eight, and hasn’t stopped since.
Sears grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where he thrived playing in his youth league for
the Brooklyn Skyhawks, then shining at Quarterback in high school at New Utrecht.
Sears went on to play collegiately for the University of Buffalo as a defensive back,
before switching back to Quarterback professionally.

Sears found a home in the
professional ranks overseas in Germany. First playing for the Lübeck Cougars in 2010,
then continuing amongst the top GFL ranks with the Münich Cowboys in 2011, and the
Braunschweig New Yorker Lions in 2012. After a tough up and down season with the
Lions, the athletic QB took his talents to the Starnberg Argonauts in 2013, before
taking a hiatus from the game in 2014. Sears returned to international football in 2015
with Nürnberg Rams, and then the next few years bouncing between the Landsberg XPress and Münich Rangers.

When not on the football field, you can find this mild mannered athlete enjoying
time with family and friends, utilizing free time watching movies, playing games, and in
investing in his ultimate love of music. Currently he’s the Head Junior Varsity (JV)
Coach at New Utrecht High School and assistant on the Varsity squad. Sears noted, “I’m grateful that I’m about to go back to my high school and give back. I have a huge
sense of gratitude to my high school coach Alan Balkan, who is still coaching at the
school.”

Sears, as many other athletes are during these times, is waiting to see how
these next months will play out with football overseas. Various leagues have cancelled
their respective 2020 season due to COVID, while others are continuing suit, but in a
different format and light. That leaves Sears’ football plans up for debate. But until
then, he was kind enough to share his journey with Touchdown Europe.

Career

Your specific position?

• I’m an athlete; I have played every position in the game of football. When playing
little league with the Brooklyn Skyhawks, I started on the offensive line and as I
gained knowledge and skill I evolved and have been able to play and learn
different positions. In high school I played Quarterback and in college defensive
back, so I have the skill set for any position on offense and defense.

What do you feel are your greatest attributes in football?

• Greatest attribute is the knowledge and vision for football. I started watching
football at the age of 5 and started playing at the age of 8. So I have watched
the game of football evolve and I stay fresh in the changes and can vision ways
that help my football knowledge and coaching methods.

Do you have a favorite team you played on or a particular season you played in?

• My favorite team I played on was the Munich Cowboys in 2011. I was the only
import player brought over for the second half of the season and we made
playoffs. That group of German players really understood football and unity. My
favorite season was my first, with Lübeck in 2010. That was epic because it
was my first season, football in Germany was competitive, and the experiences
off the field were amazing and nothing gets better than the first. That was a life changing opportunity! Thank you to Mark Holtze of the Lübeck Cougars and
Richard Bonds for giving me this opportunity to have a career playing football in
Europe.

Is there a negative experience with a team or season you had?

• Negative experience comes in the 2012 season while playing for the New Yorker
Lions. New Yorker Lions is a great organization, the team was great, and I
enjoyed everything about football there. Unfortunately our coach Phil Hickey,
made the player coach relationship hard to deal with and I wasn’t allowed to
complete the season with the team.

What has aided in your longevity in football?

• Longevity was aided by the hard work and competitive drive to compete, as well
as a little luck…everyone needs it sometimes in life. I think getting to know
good people and having talent and a mind for football is what helped too.

What are some football accolades you are most proud of?

• I haven’t won a championship in football. I’ve lost championship games and
playoffs games, so I’m still missing that meaningful trophy in my case. But
becoming the JV head coach is the best accolade I have ever received, which
gives me the ability to help younger athletes live out their dreams and guide
them in the right direction.

Journey

How many countries have you traveled to while playing overseas?

• Traveled a little bit while I’ve been in Europe. I visited a lot of cities in Germany
and visited Italy, Bulgaria, Netherlands and Austria.

Do you have a favorite country you have visited while overseas?

• I enjoyed the Netherlands and Bulgaria because of the cultural experience.
They’re both very interesting countries to experience

Best memory outside of football while playing overseas?

• Best memory outside of football was the experience I had in Bulgaria. The
lifestyle was interesting, a country very rich in tradition and culture. It’s a
wonderful and beautiful country especially by the black sea. I enjoyed it.

Any regrets or things you wish you would have done different?

• Only regret is I wish I travelled more within Europe.

Your future plans once your playing career has finished?

• When I hang the cleats up I will continue to coach. I’m just waiting for the
transition to fully happen, I can’t stop playing lol

Advice for future generations that would like to play as long as you have?

• To the future generation, just love the sport of football and playing it in another
country. Be level-headed and open minded. Also, put the work in on and off
the field and stand for something or fall for anything. Respect the opportunity
and the experience because tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. So live and
learn but keep your eyes, mind, and ears open. Most important, love what you
do and do what you love. I love football!!!!

“Playing overseas opened my mind to the world and changed me as a person,
because the opportunity kept me around something I love to do. Living overseas has
been so awesome, because it’s such a rare opportunity that I’m so appreciative for. I
have grown from this opportunity and gained a lot of knowledge and friendships along
the way. Being around so many cultures and beliefs allowed for me to accept changes
in my life.”

Brian Casey
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-28819370486915314712020-07-13T04:40:00.001+02:002020-07-13T04:44:33.035+02:00Hall Of Fame: Brian Casey, DBTouchdown Europe Hall of Fame, or, TDEU Approved, features some of the best coaches and players (domestic and import) across Europe. Betting lines have been out for the first couple of weeks of NFL football for a while now. But, since there is not much else to bet on, people have already started placing action and thus, pushing the lines around as sports-books adjust.

So, are there any early lines that look like they might be worth hopping on already?

Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs -11
This line has already moved from -10 to –11 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the odds move to -11.5 or -12 and I can understand why. The Chiefs had one of the most productive offenses last season and not much has changed so this off-season. Couple that with the fact that they are playing at home and you have a recipe for the destruction of a mediocre AFC South team. This is especially true given the Texan’s inability to remain consistent over the last couple of years.

Kansas City had the second-best aways passing yards stat in the league, but at home, they tend to rely much more on the run. It didn’t affect their scoring much, but if this stat holds true in 2020, it could give the Texans the chance to hang in there and get the back door cover. Any time you get beyond the key number of 10 in an NFL game, it’s a lot of points. Especially when we are dealing with a season where the first game or two could be quite messy.

Normally by this time in the off-season, the players have built relationships and have been practicing and training together for a couple of months already. However, with COVID, they are just starting to work together. So, we are likely going to see some mistakes in the first week of football as the teams work out the kinks and shake off the rest of the rust. This is a line that might be worth taking Houston on. Especially if the number keeps moving away from them.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Carolina Panthers (PK)
There is an old adage that goes something like this: don’t bet on bad teams. Well, both of these teams are not great. But I have to say, the Panthers are dismantled and are going to struggle in 2020. The Raiders are not good … but Gruden loves to start off strong and the fact that it will be their first game under the mantle of a Las Vegas tag, I believe the raiders will go out and play inspired ball. The opening lines started as a pick-em, meaning no point spread just win or lose -110 each (1.91). Most books have already moved to the Raiders -1.5, making them a slight favorite. But you can still find a couple of books offering the -110 pick-em price.

Given the fact that the Raiders had the 8th best passing offense and Carolina is 15th in passing defense but only has five teams worse than them at defending the pass at home. As far as rushing yards are concerned, these two teams are nearly evenly matched. The Raiders were 13th and the Panthers were 14th. But the Raiders had the 6th best rush defense in the league, while Carolina at 29th, is like a permeable gut lining just waiting to get busted.

But perhaps the biggest indicator in an uncertain matchup is yards per play. And the Raiders put up 5.9 overall and 6 yards per play on the road. This is good enough to be tied for 6th in the league last year, Carolina struggled at 25th, with just 5.1.

However, the Panthers are currently working out a deal to bring Teddy Bridgewater over from NoLa. He played well as the Saints backup last year and should fit right into the scheme … except for the fact that the Panthers just hired a new OC … so, with a new offensive coordinator and new QB... I expect there will be some miscommunication and bugs to work out early in the season. When we add all of this up, I think the Raiders are worth a punt in Week 1.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074077286775598533.post-30696444392947561632020-04-12T18:22:00.000+02:002020-04-12T18:22:33.997+02:00Hall Of Fame: Brandon Connette, QBTouchdown Europe Hall of Fame, or, TDEU Approved, features some of the best coaches and players (domestic and import) across Europe.
