Crewe Railroaders – 0Shropshire Revolution - 55
Shropshire Revolution were able to rebound from their defeat to Manchester Titans two weeks prior with a commanding 55-0 victory away at Crewe Railroaders, advancing to a 4-2 record on the season. The Revolution Offense in clinical fashion totted up 4 Touchdowns in each half whilst the Defense secured a shut-out for the first time since the 2011 season.
Marking the first ever meeting between the two clubs the visitors arrived debuting their resplendent new yellow jerseys befitting of the glorious sunny South Chesire conditions. Quarterback Richard Mantle making his first start of the season set the tone for the day when on their opening Drive of the game the visitors marched down field allowing Mantle to connect with Tight End Stephen Lawrence from 11 yards out for the opening score. The Shropshire attack would find the end zone on each of their next 3 possessions firstly Mantle himself powering his way for his fourth rushing Touch Down of the season, whilst Full Back Tom Altinok bundled in the third from a yard out before youth graduate Lee Burnside would out sprint the Crewe Defense on 60 yard scamper to give his side a 25-0 lead at Half Time.
The Purple Defensive unit would get in on the action when Defensive End Andy Barnett capping off a devastating individual display would add 2 points to the away sides total, Barnett’s thunderous hit on the Crewe Quarterback under the shadow of his own goal posts recorded a Safety. A second half Stephenson Ardern-Sodje air and ground double coupled with a second Lee Burnside score were added to the total, the icing on the Revolution cake came with the welcome sight of Running Back Leigh French returning from injury as he completed the rout with a short yardage rushing score in the fourth quarter.

The Railroaders entered the game with a very healthy scoring record averaging 27 points from their first 5 games but struggled to move the ball against an Andy Barnett led Defense, in addition Cornerback Dan Stant and Linebacker Mark Lingwood snagged a pair interceptions to help secure the clean sheet.
Shropshire Head Coach Dave Reid paid tribute to the play of his lineman on the day stating “Our physicality up front on both sides of the ball was the major difference between the two teams today, which is especially tough in such testing conditions”. Reid would also point to the contribution of young Running Back Lee Burnside who recorded his first ever senior level Touchdowns “ The whole team were delighted for Lee and especially the coaching staff, Lee has stepped up in the last 3 games to lead the rushing attack in the absence of Leigh French and it was great to see him have a run out today also”
Shropshire now host second place Chester Romans on Sunday the 21st of July in a vital clash in the BAFANL Central Division, the game is at Oakengates Leisure Centre 2.30 Kick-off.
