The Novi Sad Dukes have signed their first import for the 2014 - Demetrius Sumler.

Sumler is primarily a RB, but he's also a threat as a LB. He played at the University of Colorado, where his headcoach was John Embree - brother of Sean Embree (Serbian National Team, Vukovi Belgrade). During his senior year, Sumler transferred to Central Washington University.

- I am very excited for this opportunity and can not wait for my arrival in Novi Sad! Since I was 8 years old, I have played American football at each competitive level. Football has been a passion of mine since I can remember and I have an undeniable love for the game. - says Sumler.

He tried pursuing an NFL career, but sometimes - things don't work out as planned, so he decided he's ready to head to Europe and be a headache for the opponents.

"The idea of playing American football overseas has always been intriguing to me. I am thrilled to learn about different cultures, food, and to be able to compete in football in another country. When I began my search, I knew Novi Sad would be the most fitting place for me. When one searches "Novi Sad" on the internet, there is nothing but deliciously looking food, beautiful sights to visit, and a very fascinating city.

I already feel that I've connected well with the Dukes (coaches and players). I love that I feel wanted by such an awesome club. I can not wait for this adventure to continue my football career. I have made mistakes before of choosing the right place for me athletically. I do not have a single reservation of choosing the Dukes as my team to compete with.", says Sumler and continues: "My expectations and goals for this season is to continue to grow as an individual and to completely enjoy and explore such a beautiful culture and city. My ultimate goal of course is to be a part of a team of champions! Go Dukes!"
