Netherlands: Arnhem Falcons To Receive The 1st Turf Football Field

The Arnhem based Dutch amateur American Football team Arnhem Falcons are on the move. After a disappointing season returning to the highest level of American Football in the Netherlands in 2012, the team is now well on its way preparing for the 2013 season.

Coaching staff
Head coach Wouter van den Boogaard returns for a second season and he is joined by Alfred Portengen at QB & WR coach on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, the coaching staff has received a major upgrade with the arrival of Martin Doomen as Defensive coordinator. Coach Doomen’s resume includes time with all major Dutch Football teams as well as a stint as National coach in the NFL Europe. Martin is assisted by Wouter Lether who coaches the DB’s.

Speaking of upgrades, the Falcons facilities have received a major upgrade too. In cooperation with the local council and Fieldturf AAsportsystems the Falcons can now boast the first artificial turf American Football field in the Netherlands. The team will use this field together with neighboring soccer club VDZ. Along the side of this new field, a new stand with 200 seat capacity will be included as well.

This will make it the perfect location for the finals of the Dutch league in 2013: the Tulipbowl.
